Because I'm looking at the new 2015 Edge on Ford's website and I kind of want one now. Badly. In Sport guise with that bitchin' new 2.7L TTV6. It uses the same chassis as the Fusion so the wheelbases are identical, but it's actually 3" shorter, which I found surprising.

The Porsche Macan was the first crossover I've ever seen where I actually thought to myself; "Damn, that's a nice looking vehicle, I wouldn't mind DD'ing that fucker around." The Edge is now apparently the second, but, the much more affordable second.

So what say you Oppo. Am I losing my mind, or is this new Edge surprisingly exciting to anyone else?

The front looks a bit disproportionate to me. Not a massive fan.

Get something like the last gen's sport version grille and lower that sucker!

I like the new Sport front fascia better than the old one, but the rear is still my favorite view. Those tail lights are pretty magnificent. I can agree the front isn't my favorite view though.

It doesn't look bad. It looks a bit like an Range Rover, which isn't a bad thing I guess. The front end does make it look a bit odd, due to how big the fascia is.

I actually thought the old gen looked pretty nice in the sport version

It does seem a bit too high, like someone who has their pants pulled up above their waste. But I think the rear saves it, and I especially like the hood line.

I did think the last-gen Sport looked pretty nice, but it didn't grab me like this new one is.

The real question is, can you get it with the GT engine?

If not, then let it go

It was too big, only came with the NA V6, and was only Auto (which was not surprising)

Those were my only criticisms of the Edge Sport

You're probably losing your mind, but I won't judge. Besides, it's not that bad looking for a crossover.

From the front, OK. The back looks like a Sienna. The Fusion-style taillights are just too small.

Eh, it's alright I guess. Doesn't really speak to me I guess. Although that drivetrain is quite nice. Now this on the other hand*

* Full disclosure: I own an Orange Crosstrek. Waiting/hoping Subaru makes a hopped up version at some point.

Well now it's got the option of a TT V6, it weighs about 100-200lbs less, but it's still only Auto.

Though that last one isn't an issue for me.

That car would be a lot more exciting if it had the same 2.0L Turbo from the Forrester XT.

Not sure the year (2014 probably), but my friends have one in sport trim and they love it. The paddles for shifting are a little useless but fun from what I hear

The last-gen was pretty interesting to me at times. Especially whenever I saw a Sport trim on the road.

But this one is really the first Crossover since the Macan came out that's really called to me. When I'm done with my current Mazda, I could definitely see myself getting this some day. Glad to hear your friends have enjoyed the hell out of it.

The funny thing is how they describe it.

Husband: it's nice. Drives well. It has some cool features.

Wife when husband isn't around: he loves it. He sees how fast or long he can back up using just the rear view camera. He pretends he's a race car driver when using the paddles. He watches the current fuel economy meter to see how good or bad he can get it.

The list goes on.

Seriously, CUVs now look like big hatchbacks (compliment). This one's a nice hatchback

Kinja'd!!! spanfucker retire bitch > Dasupersprint - base trim is enough

Yeah, I love the hatchback look of this vehicle. Especially that spoiler over the rear window. The fact it's actually even shorter than the Fusion is also nice, even if it's just by a couple of inches.

The Fusion is probably one of my favorite sedans available right now because it's just the right size, and the fact this is even a little shorter, means it shouldn't be much harder to maneuver around than the sedan.

I really love how this thing looks, especially in Sport Trim. Same with the redesigned Explorer. Two things which I didn't like a year ago.

Kinja'd!!! spanfucker retire bitch > Logansteno: Bought a VW?

Yeah, the new Explorer definitely looks better, but it's too big for me. I don't want/need that.

This would be perfect though. I also just realized those fake looking vents beneath the headlights are actually LED running lights. The entire perimeter actually lights up. That's cool.

I have always preferred the MKX over the corresponding Edge.

Now the MKX looks almost indistinguishable from the barely-smaller MKC...

And this Edge looks ever so slightly sharper than the window lines and fender arches in the new Linc...

I think I might prefer the Ford this time, aesthetically.

The new Murano is also interesting, far more than the previous Murano.

But as a Toyota Venza owner, I am still looking for the next-gen Venza.

Nothing else has the slick chopped-roof look of the Venza in that mid-size, mid-price 5-passenger CUV class. I don't need all the sheer excess head-room that most of these vehicles have.

Whether it is a lower roof, or a wider track width, or just the proportions together, all the other vehicles seem narrower and taller than Venza. I just wish Venza had a bit stronger of a name, and a bit more of an aesthetic edge, without looking over-styled.
